Marble polishing that brings the stone back, not just the shine

Most marble floors are not worn out. They are covered up. A year of mopping, a few acidic spills, some grit dragged in from outside, and the surface picks up a film and a layer of fine scratches that flatten the colour. We take that layer down, refine the stone, and finish it so the floor reads the way it did when it was laid.

SR Marble Polishing Solutions has been doing this since 2009, mostly across Delhi NCR and increasingly for clients who find us from other cities. The crew is in-house, the machines are ours, and the person who inspects your floor is the person who quotes it. No sales visits, no subcontracting.

What actually happens on site

Polishing is a sequence, and skipping a step shows up six months later. Here is the honest version:

• We inspect scratches, joint gaps, hollow patches and old coatings, and tell you what will and won't come out.
• Edges, skirting and furniture legs get protected before any machine starts.
• The floor is cleaned of grit, because a pad that cuts dirt instead of stone is just wasting your money.
• Diamond grinding removes the top film and levels light lippage.
• Honing brings the scratch pattern down step by step rather than jumping grits.
• Chips and hollow joints are filled with stone glue or epoxy where the bed is sound.
• Final polishing restores gloss. Crystallisation or a silicate sealer is added only if you want it and the stone suits it.
• We walk the floor with you in daylight and point out anything that still reads uneven.

What it costs

Rates depend on how deep the damage is, not on the room count. As a working band for regular residential marble: a maintenance buff runs about Rs.5 to Rs.15 per sq.ft, a full diamond polish about Rs.15 to Rs.25, and a deep diamond job with crystallisation about Rs.25 to Rs.35. Stairs, counters, walls and very large halls are quoted separately because they behave differently. You get the band in writing before work starts.

Marble, granite, kota, mosaic, terrazzo

The same crew handles granite, kota stone, mosaic, terrazzo and concrete floors. Granite takes a harder pass and different pads; kota usually needs a sealer because it is porous; mosaic and terrazzo respond well to a fine diamond finish. If you are not sure what you have, send a photo and we will tell you from that.

Questions people ask before booking

How long does it take? A typical 3BHK takes one to two days for polishing, plus drying time. Larger villas and offices are scheduled in sections so you keep access.

Will there be dust? We run wet where the stone allows and use extraction where it doesn't. Slurry is bagged and skirting is wiped before handover.

Do you use wax? No. Wax sits on top and hides the problem. If a previous crew waxed your floor, we strip it first, because pads cannot cut stone through soft film.

What about cracks and holes? Sound stone can be filled and blended. If a tile is structurally loose, we will say so and quote a replacement.
