Information about Silicate 200

Silicate 200 (NL) is a state-of-the-art, water-based, and VOC-compliant lithium solution developed for marble, natural stones, and concrete. Without having to be rinsed off afterward, it penetrates up to ¼ inch (7mm) when sprayed on either existing or new surfaces creating an insoluble calcium silica hydrate which helps make them more resistant to water, stains, and abrasions so they can withstand wear better and last longer. Additionally, this product can be used in marble polishing processes to increase their durability.

If contact is made with glass, fabric, metal, or painted surfaces then immediately wipe down with a damp cloth and then dry off with a second clean cloth afterward.

Use a pump-up sprayer for small jobs to spray 200 silicate chemicals evenly. Spread out any pools with a soft bristle broom or a flat microfiber pad. Keep the surface wet for at least 20 minutes, adding more material as needed. The surface is ready for use when dry, but the complete reaction may take up to two weeks to develop depending on site temperature and conditions. In cool, humid, or enclosed conditions, Silicate 200 may stay wet for a long time. Use an auto-scrubber to rinse the surface and remove excess material after one hour. It is possible to apply silicate immediately after the 200-grit polish has been completed on the newly placed interior surface. Keep tools and equipment clean by using soap and water. Silicate 200 is non-toxic and environmentally safe, but it is alkali-use up or dry out extra material and dispose of it according to local regulations. Avoid pouring into sewers or storm drains.

This product is designed to improve the grinding and polishing of marble, natural stone, concrete, or terrazzo surfaces; allowing for easier re­profiling, as well as reducing wear and damage to diamond abrasives. Application is straightforward: one treatment with no brooming or rinsing needed - which is not the case with Sodium or Potassium chemistry that necessitates multiple coats, brooming and rinsing, plus hazardous rinse water disposal. Moreover, the silicate chemical produces no surface bloom that can be difficult to remove.

Precautions: To ensure the effective application of the 800 silicate chemicals, use only when temperatures are above 36° F (2°C) for at least 4 hours. Make sure that surfaces are cleaned to remove dirt, laitance, curing compounds, and coatings that could restrict penetration. Do not utilize citrus or acidic cleaners. If any acid dyes or cleaning solutions have been used, neutralize the surface using Stone Cleaner. High-pressure sprayers should also not be employed. In hot and breezy conditions, apply water on hot concrete in order to cool it before applying it to protect it against flash-drying. In the case of Silicate 800 contacts glass, fabric, metal, or painted surfaces; clean off with a damp cloth and then dry with a second clean cloth.

Apply directly after completing 800 grit polish. For smaller projects, a pump-up sprayer can be used for the even distribution of material. Afterward, spread any puddles with a soft broom or microfiber cloth and ensure the surface stays moist for at least 20 minutes. Any area should not dry out while working; if necessary, add an additional Silicate 800 (IH) to sustain uniform wetness on the surface. After the solution has penetrated and is no longer wet, keep polishing until your desired finish is achieved. To remove excess slurry concentrations between abrasive disc grits when working with a wet polishing method, an auto scrubber along with water is recommended.
